FARM STORIES & UPDATES
Hi members! As we wrap up the summer, we have some staffing changes that we wanted to tell you about.
It's always sad when our crew members that are college students leave for the fall semester. It's especially sad when they're phenomenal workers, like the ones we are blessed to have.
Audrey will be heading back to the University of New Hampshire and Alex will be headed back to Wesleyan:

Thomas has already made his way back to the University of Alabama:

Jona will continue to work at markets this fall but will wrap up his time in the field to focus on his studies and new teaching assistant position:

It sounds silly, but I'm getting teary eyed as I write this. Goodbyes aren't easy, but words honestly can't express how good our crew is. They're so reliable and hard-working and take amazing initiative to get a lot done. It makes me especially teary because our daughter was born this summer and we were able to take a ton of extra time off to spend with family because we knew that our crew was willing and able to handle so much. It just means the world to us that they have had such an impact on our family.
The good news is we have also welcomed Fiona:

Luna:

And Victor (I forgot to take his picture this week - stay tuned!) ...
To the crew. We already feel so lucky to have them.
We'll be celebrating everyone this week with a special lunch and ice cream party.
It's also Eric's 24th birthday:

And we're so grateful for Danielle:

Cousin Danielle does it all! From taking care of our chickens, to picking up and delivering orders, to cleaning up garlic, she’s always willing to lend a hand. This week she’s even delivering a load of 1,000 lbs. of tomatoes to our processor in New Haven to be made into more “Just a Crush”. Danielle keeps morale high around here!
There is so much more to say, but clearly we have our work cut out for us this week. Roseland Apizza is serving pies with our tomatoes. Our new partner Bridgeport Rescue Mission will receive a ton of fresh veggies to distribute thanks to the grant funding that our friends at Real Food CT received. Watermelons are here. Peppers are here. Bulk boxes of plum tomatoes are here.
Time to get to work...

VEGETABLE SUBSCRIPTION PICKUP POLICIES
All pickups must take place within store operating hours. For many reasons, we can't leave shares outside the store. Pickup days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
If you need to skip your share for the week, or change your pickup day, you must provide us with 48 hours' notice for any of the options below. This is because we pack shares the day before pickup. Once your share has been harvested and packed, we can not change or cancel your pickup.
For Tuesday pickups being changed, we need to know by Sunday.
Wednesday pickups, we need to know by Monday.
Saturday pickups, we need to know by Thursday.
You have the option to choose another pickup day in a given week: we offer share pickup on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday only. We can not have shares ready on any other days.
You can skip a pickup and receive a double the following week.
If you miss your pickup, we will hold your share for 24 hours after your pickup day, and then it will be donated to a local food pantry. With more members than ever before, we don't have the cooler space to hold onto shares longer than this. This is a great option if you miss your pickup - just come the next day.
You can always send a guest to pick up in your place by simply notifying us of their name.
Please send us an email to laurelglenfarm@gmail.com 48 hours before an anticipated change. You must submit your request in writing in order to leave a paper trail. This allows you to show proof to our store staff at pickup in the event that we need clarification.
If a share is picked up outside of your scheduled time (aside from an approved change) or the 24 hour holding period without proof of a request, you will be billed for an additional share.
